Finding Activities and Getting Personalised Recommendations

Volunteering is more meaningful when it matches your interests, skills, and schedule. On volunteer.give.asia, there are a few ways to explore volunteering opportunities — such as starting with a role or cause, or browsing all available activities. You’ll also receive recommended volunteering opportunities by email based on the roles you’re interested in.

Browsing by role

If you already have an idea of what type of volunteer you’d like to be, browsing by role helps you understand what that role involves before committing to anything.

1. See what volunteering in this role looks like

When you click on a role, you’ll first see examples and featured activities under that role. These give you a quick sense of:

• What kind of activities you might do
• Who you’ll be supporting
• The general experience of volunteering in that role

This helps you decide if the role feels like a good fit, without needing to browse through many listings.

2. Take the next step if the role interests you.

If the role resonates with you (for example, becoming a Befriender), you can click Become a Befriender.

This lets you:

• Explore more opportunities related to that role
• Receive recommendations for similar activities
• Continue your volunteering journey at your own pace

3. Receive role-based recommendations by email

After you’ve expressed interest in a role (for example, by clicking Become a Befriender), you’ll receive email recommendations featuring volunteering opportunities related to that role.

Browsing by Cause

If you’re motivated by why you want to volunteer, browsing by cause helps you quickly find opportunities that support something you care about.

1. Focus on causes that matter to you

When you click on a cause, you’ll see featured volunteering activities related to that cause. These activities show you:

• How different organisations support this cause
• The types of volunteering opportunities available
• Different ways you can get involved

This makes it easier to explore opportunities aligned with your values, without having to search through unrelated activities.

2. Explore opportunities that support the cause

You’ll see volunteering opportunities that support the selected cause. Click on any activity to learn more or sign up, or continue browsing other opportunities under the same or different causes.

Browsing all opportunities

If you’d prefer to explore everything available, browsing all opportunities gives you the most flexibility.

1. Click “Browse” on the homepage

Start by clicking Browse on the homepage. This will take you to the activities page, where all volunteering opportunities are listed.

2. Explore activities on the activities page

You’ll be redirected to a page showing all available volunteering opportunities. Here, you can scroll through activities to see what’s available across different roles, causes, and organisations.

3. Use the interactive map to find opportunities near you

On the same page, you’ll see an interactive map that helps you locate volunteering opportunities near your area.

4. Narrow your search using filters

If you’d like to refine what you see, you can apply filters such as role, cause, location, or availability to narrow down the activities shown.
