What does cover transaction fee means?

Update (Effective 19 April 2026, 0000hr SGT):

The Cover Fee feature has been discontinued. From this date onward, new donations will no longer include the Cover Fee option.

For past donations where the Cover Fee was selected, these will remain unchanged, and the bank processing fees for those donations will continue to be covered.

1. Is the cover fee mandatory on all donation pages?

No, it’s optional for donors. The cover fee feature is available to all charities on Give.Asia. Donors are always given the choice during checkout to include it or opt out.

2. Does Give.Asia charge any other fees besides the bank transaction fee?

No. The only fee deducted from donations on Give.Asia is the 1.5% bank transaction fee. We do not charge any platform or admin fees.

3. How does the cover fee affect our donation amounts?

When a donor chooses to include the cover fee, they are helping to shoulder the 1.5% bank transaction fee. This ensures your charity receives 100% of the donation amount.

Scenarios:

📌 Example 1: Donation without Cover Fee

* Donor gives $100.

* The 1.5% bank transaction fee ($1.50) is deducted.

* Your charity receives $98.50.

📌 Example 2: Donation with Cover Fee

* Donor gives $100 and also includes a $5 cover fee.

* The cover fee offsets the 1.5% bank transaction fee.

* Your charity receives the full $100.

* Any balance left from the $5 cover fee supports Give.Asia’s operations (platform setup, security, manpower, maintenance, and improvements).

📌 Example 3: 0.00 bank transaction fee in Donation Records

* If you see 0.00 under “bank transaction fee” in your records, it means the donor included a cover fee.

* The donor has covered the bank transaction fee, so your charity receives the full donation.

4. Can donors see the cover fee before donating?

Yes. Transparency is a priority. Donors clearly see the suggested cover fee amount during checkout, and they can either include it or uncheck the option before completing their donation.

4. How is the suggested cover fee amount decided?

The suggested cover fee is determined by an AI model that factors in donation size and typical bank transaction fees. The model continues to improve as more donors use the platform, ensuring that the suggested amount remains fair and reasonable.

5. Do we need to manage the cover fee setting?

No action is required. The cover fee feature is automatically applied to your donation page. Donors choose whether or not to add it, and your charity benefits directly from their choice.
