What is cover transaction cost?
Update (Effective 19 April 2026, 0000hr SGT):
The Cover Fee feature has been discontinued. From this date onward, new donations will no longer include the Cover Fee option.
For past donations where the Cover Fee was selected, these will remain unchanged, and the bank processing fees for those donations will continue to be covered.
1. What is the cover fee, and why am I being asked to pay more?
The cover fee is an optional amount you can choose to add to your donation. It helps cover the cost of bank and payment processing charges, ensuring that 100% of your donation reaches the charity. Any remaining balance from the cover fee supports Give.Asia’s operational costs, including manpower, platform setup, maintenance, and improvements. This allows us to keep the platform 100% free for all charities, so they can focus on their causes instead of fundraising infrastructure.
2. Do I have to pay the cover fee?
No, the cover fee is completely optional. You can choose to add it or opt out of it before completing your donation.

3. Where does the cover fee go?
- First, it covers bank and payment processing charges, ensuring that the charity receives the full amount you intended to donate.
- Any remaining balance goes toward supporting Give.Asia’s operating costs, which include platform maintenance, improvements, and staffing, helping us keep the platform free for all charities.
4. Will the cover fee be in my receipt, and is it tax-deductible?
If you choose to add a cover fee (e.g., $5 on top of your $100 donation), your receipt will clearly indicate the breakdown. If the charity you’ve donated to is eligible to issue a tax deduction, only the actual donation amount (e.g., $100) will be applicable for tax purposes.
5. Why did you introduce the cover fee?
The cover fee was introduced to help charities receive more donations to support critical programs, especially given the challenges of fundraising infrastructure costs. By allowing donors to cover these charges, we ensure that more of the funds raised go directly to the causes that matter most. This initiative was based on feedback and suggestions from both charities and donors.
6. What if I accidentally include the cover fee?
We offer protection for all fundraising campaigns on Give.Asia. If a donor accidentally includes the cover fee and would like a refund, they can simply contact us and we’ll be happy to assist.
Please note that we’re unable to process partial refunds. Only a full refund of the total donation amount can be issued. Donors will need to make a new donation if they wish to exclude the cover fee.
Your support — whether through donations or by covering fees — helps keep the platform running for thousands of causes across Asia. We’re deeply grateful for your generosity and for taking the time to understand how this works.
